"A New Thing"

I attended Gal's night at my local church tonight and had an amazing time with the women at Relate Church in Suffolk, Va. We had the most wonderful "tea party!" We had a guest speaker who shared her testimony of struggles with addiction. Through God, she was able to overcome the addiction and find total deliverance and freedom and is walking in a life of total restoration. While I have not had that kind of struggle, I have certainly had my own struggles. We all have our own testimony. We can take our past hurts and failures and allow them to destroy us, or we can give them to God and move forward to become who we were called to be, unique and different with a special purpose and plan!

What about you? Do you feel weighed down by the hurt, betrayal, and failures of your past? Are you longing for a breakthrough to release the grief that you are carrying and move forward? God has a plan for you, and He wants to do something new in your life right now!

According to Isaiah 43:18-19 in the King James Version, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” God is calling us to let go of the past and embrace the new thing He is doing in our lives. He is preparing a way for us to move forward and find peace and joy in our lives.

God doesn’t want us to dwell on our mistakes and failures, He wants us to forgive those people who have hurt us and to forgive ourselves for our failures. He wants us to know that He has already forgiven us and that He is ready to use our experiences to bring glory to His name. We can take comfort in knowing that God is with us every step of the way as we journey down the path He has prepared for us.

In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul reminds us to “ Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” This is a powerful reminder that we can’t move forward if we are stuck in the past. We must press on and trust that God will make a way for us. We have to keep moving "OnWordandUpWord" and "Keep on Keepin' on!"

Remember, God, is working in us and through us to bring about something new. He is calling us to a ministry that will help us to use our experiences to bring glory to His name. We must be open to the possibilities and be willing to take risks. We must ask ourselves, "What is God calling me to do, and how can I use my experiences to bring glory to His name?"

Whatever you are facing in life, God is with you and He is ready to do something new. So don’t give up hope. Take your hurt, betrayal, and failures to God and allow His peace and love to flow over you. Let go of the past and embrace the new thing God is doing in your life right now. He is preparing a way for you to move forward and find peace and joy in your life. Are you ready to allow Him to do a new thing in your life? Let go of the past, cling to the Father, and grab a hold of your future! Watch what God can do! ©Rita Larson 5/19/2023
