"Coming Out Of The Pit!"

My Dad was a coal miner for many years, working in various deep mines in the heart of West Virginia. He was adamant that when he passed away, he didn't want to be buried underground. He wanted to be cremated because he said he spent enough time underground, in the damp, dark coal mines. He was tired of being in a pit and didn't want to go back. That is how we feel sometimes in life. We feel like we are in a dark pit and it is hard to see our way out when we are faced with different challenges in life.

No matter how great the challenges we face in life, we can have confidence in the fact that God is greater. There is a common saying in the Christian circle that "if God brought you to it, He will bring you through it." However, sometimes we make bad choices, and we cause our own pitfalls. There may even be situations in which the devil coerced us into a dark place. The fact is, sometimes we cannot see our way out. Even though we may not be able to see it, there is ALWAYS a way out. We have the Holy Ghost leading us and guiding us. We also have a Savior! That is what a Savior does, He saves! Jesus wants us to turn to Him. He is here to help us, no matter what we have gotten ourselves into!

In our journey through life, it is never too late to repent and seek forgiveness. There is no distance so great that Jesus cannot reach us. No matter how far we may have strayed or how deep we may have fallen, God's love and mercy are boundless. He is ALWAYS ready to forgive and extend His helping hand to those who humble themselves before Him. The Holy Spirit works within us, convicting us of our sins and leading us towards repentance and redemption. Our job is to recognize it, open our hearts, and allow Him to work on our behalf!

It may feel like it at times, but we are not alone! Hebrews 13:5 says, " I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." By turning to Him in faith and seeking His help, He will meet us where we are and we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. There is no hole so deep that He cannot lift us out of it. No matter how hopeless a situation may seem, God's love and grace are sufficient to bring us out of the darkest depths and into the light of His love. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." He can transform our trials into triumphs and use every experience for our ultimate good. Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."

Remember, no matter what challenges we may face or what we have gone through, God is greater. Whether we have been led astray by the devil or found ourselves in a pitfall of our own making, when we turn to God, He will bring us through it. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is always ready to offer His forgiveness, guidance, and strength. It is never too late to repent and seek God's help. He is able to lift us out of any pit and work out everything for our good. We just need to have faith, trust in His promises, and lean on His everlasting love! ©Rita Larson 9/21/2023
