Do The Right Thing!

This week has been a trying week. I have heard several instances of injustices and I have been put to the test, standing up for what is right. Doing the right thing isn’t always an easy thing to do but it is always the right thing to do.

Genesis 1:28 states “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” This scripture tells us that we are all called to leadership in one form or another. We were given dominion over the things on this earth. With the responsibility of leadership, comes the accountability to walk in integrity. You often hear people say integrity is “doing the right thing when no one else is watching”. Truth is, if you are a born again Christian, we are always being watched. We have the Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside of us.

Integrity is a quality that is essential in all Christian relationships. When a person of integrity is in a leadership role (and we have already established that we ALL are to some degree), it is an opportunity to point to God as the source of that integrity. God should be glorified in our words and our actions. Proverbs 20:7 says, “The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.” This verse emphasizes the importance of being honest and morally sound to ensure that the next generation will benefit from it. We are called to be examples and we have a guidebook to tell us how to do it!

In Luke 6:31, it states, “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” This scripture reveals that treating others with respect and kindness is a key element of integrity. Proverbs 24:3-4 states, “Through wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Practicing Wisdom in our words and actions is key to effective leadership.

Integrity is also about more than just being honest and having moral soundness. It is about having the courage to stand up for the truth and not be swayed by corrupting influences. William Shakespeare once said, “How far that little candle throws its beams; so shines a good deed in a naughty world.” This is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness combined with integrity can make a huge difference in an often-difficult world. When a person of integrity is in leadership, they can serve as a beacon of light to those around them.

In conclusion, integrity is a key component of Christian relationships, whether it is in leadership or any other form. The Bible reminds us that we should be honest, morally sound, and treat others with respect. A person of integrity must be willing to stand up for what is right and not be swayed by their own desires. When Christians show integrity and lead with courage and respect, they can shine like a beacon of light for all of the world to see. Let your light of their faith shine brightly, demonstrate integrity and lead with courage and respect! Walk in kindness and be sensitive to others! Stand up for what is right and true to God’s Word!
