Faith That Endures

I recently realized that a Christian acquaintance that I met some time ago and had lost touch with had lost her husband. I will refer to her as Sarah for her privacy. Sarah faced and overcame many obstacles in her life, including poverty, illness, physical abuse, and addiction. Through Jesus, she was able to turn her life around. She was living her best life, living a life of total restoration, when out of nowhere, she unexpectedly lost her husband. Because of her history, it would have been easy for her to throw up her hands and give up. Because of her relationship with Jesus and the enduring faith that she had built, she was able to press on, remaining faithful to God and trusting in His plans for her life. She sought help from her church and her family and found strength in her faith. In the end, Sarah's faith brought her through this storm. She came out stronger and continues to live a life full of peace and joy.

Sarah's life is a testament to the power of enduring faith. It shows us that no matter what life throws at us, we can trust in God and remain faithful. He will bring us through the hard times and provide us with peace that surpasses all understanding!

Enduring faith is an essential part of the Christian life. Hebrews 10:35-36 reminds us that our confidence in God has a great reward and that we need endurance to see the promise of God come to fruition. The proof of our faith is in how we live and operate in it; it is the evidence of God’s kingdom at work in us. Enduring faith is what matures us beyond our circumstances and enables us to confront anything that opposes God's plan for our lives.

The Bible is filled with examples of people who have faced seemingly impossible circumstances with faith. From Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt to Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal to the apostles spreading the gospel in the face of persecution, the Bible is overflowing with stories of faith overcoming the odds.

In the book of James, we are told that faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26). Faith is not just a mental exercise; it is an action. We must actively live out our faith in order to grow and deepen our relationship with God. We must be willing to face the challenges before us with courage and trust in God’s plan for our lives.

One of the greatest examples of enduring faith is found in the life of Joseph. He faced tremendous adversity and opposition, but he never gave up on his faith in God. Despite being sold into slavery, falsely accused of a crime, and thrown into prison, Joseph never lost sight of God’s plan for his life. Through all of his trials and tribulations, Joseph placed his trust in God and remained faithful. In the end, God used Joseph’s faith to bring about his ultimate purpose—to save the lives of many people.

All of these examples are powerful reminders of the importance of enduring faith. No matter what circumstances we face, we must never forget that God knows the plans He has for us. He is the orchestrator of our life. When we build our faith, trusting in His Word and the promises we have in Him, we become willing and able to face the challenges before us with courage and faith, knowing that He has us in the palm of His hand. Even with the odds seem insurmountable, we can be confident, holding on to our faith, knowing that God has our back.

Enduring faith is proof that we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. It is the evidence of God’s kingdom at work in us and all around us. When we stand firm in our faith, no matter the circumstance, we will have peace that surpasses all understanding. When the storms come, we will dance in the rain. Stand tall, Stand strong, and rejoice! ©Rita Larson 10/27/2023
