Flying on 9/11 always brings about a mix of emotions within me. It is a day that serves as a reminder of the immense gratitude I have for all that God has blessed me with. It is a day that prompts me to reflect upon the freedom we have not only in our country but, more importantly, the freedom we have in Christ. As I board the plane, I cannot help but feel an overwhelming sense of appreciation for the opportunities and liberties I enjoy.

9/11/01 is a day etched in the memory of millions around the world. It was a day that changed the course of history and left an indelible mark on our collective consciousness. As I sit in my seat, I am transported back to that fateful day when the news started pouring in. I remember exactly where I was, the shock that reverberated through my being, and the profound sadness that engulfed me. It is through these memories that I am reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
When I think about flying, I am reminded of how far I have come. During the events of 9/11 I had never stepped foot on an airplane. I could never have imagined the twists and turns my life would take. I am blessed with an amazing husband and family and wonderful friends from around the world. The journey that has led me to where I am today has been filled with unexpected detours and some exhilarating adventures. It is a testament of resiliencey and the endless possibilities that lie before us when we put our faith and trust in God. As I soar through the sky, I can't help but feel a deep sense of awe and gratitude for the opportunities that have come my way.
On this day of remembrance, I am humbled by the sacrifices made and lives lost. The bravery and selflessness displayed by countless individuals serve as a constant reminder of the precious gift of freedom. It is easy to take our liberties for granted, but when faced with moments like 9/11, we are jolted into awareness of their significance. As the plane takes off, I say a prayer for all those still affected by that tragic day.

In times of reflection, it is important to remember true freedom is only found in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Our freedom in Christ is not to be taken lightly. It is something to be cherished, protected, and shared with others. We are blessed with freedom in our country and in Christ. Take a moment to remember and honor those who have sacrificed their lives for our liberty.
Flying on 9/11 is a poignant experience that serves as a powerful reminder of our blessings and the fragility of life. It prompts me to reflect on our freedoms and to cherish every moment we have been given. As I look out of the window at the vast expanse of sky, I am filled with gratitude for all that God has given me and for the opportunity to experience true freedom, thanks to my Lord and Savior! ©Rita Larson 9/11/2023
