"Get Fruity"

We had our first community group for couples this term at our home yesterday and we focused on building the Kingdom of God as a Kingdom Couple. Staying focused on bringing others into the Kingdom, we are all responsible to do our part. We do this by producing fruit. We need to all be reminded that we are called to bear fruit for our Heavenly Father, individually and as a couple.

As Jesus said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
What does it mean to be a branch of the vine? As a branch of the vine, we are connected to Jesus Christ, the source of all life, and we have the opportunity to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to love and serve others, and to make an impact on the world around us.
John 15:8 says, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” The call to bear fruit is not just for us to be productive and successful. It’s about bringing glory to our Father. We can bring glory to God by living out our lives in a way that reflects His love, grace, and mercy.

John 15:16 says, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” This scripture reminds us that we have been chosen by God to be part of His Kingdom, to go and bear fruit for His glory. We have been given a purpose that is uniquely ours, and this purpose will bring glory to God and will remain forever.
God is the source of life and nourishment for His branches. Just as a vine needs its branches to provide fruit and shade, so God needs us to provide fruit for His Kingdom. We are called to bear fruit that brings glory to God and reflects His love and grace.

We are called to be fruitful in all areas of our lives—in our relationships, our work, our hobbies, and our spiritual lives. We must be willing to let the Holy Spirit guide us and open our eyes to the work God wants us to do. We must be willing to let go of fear and uncertainty and trust that God will use us to bring about His will.
We can use the analogy of a fruit tree to help us understand the concept of bearing fruit for the kingdom of God. Just as a tree needs nourishment and care to produce fruit, we need to make sure we are nourishing our spirits and taking care of our physical and mental health in order to bear good fruit for the kingdom of God. We must also be sure to abide in Christ and allow His Spirit to work within us so that we can bear much fruit.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the unique gifts and talents You have given us. Thank You for calling us to bear fruit for Your Kingdom. Thank You for Your grace and mercy, and for loving us extravagantly. Thank You for Your Word and for the opportunity to bear fruit for Your kingdom. Help us to be faithful and obedient to You. Open our eyes to the work You want us to do and the prayers You want us to pray. Give us the courage to be a light in the darkness and to share the good news of Jesus. Help us to bear Your image and to produce much fruit for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen. ©Rita Larson 7/10/2023
