"Get Out of Hell Free Card"

When God created the world, He created angels to worship Him and to minister to His people (Acts 17:24; Psalm 104:4). Ezekiel 28:12-17 it is written that Lucifer was the most beautiful of God's angels. He was dressed in the finest of garments and was made to reflect the glory of the Creator. He was given the gift of beauty, but he took it for granted and was filled with boastful pride which allowed to develop into rebellion. Because of pride, his heart became dark and corrupt. His outward beauty was a gift, but this same gift inspired his rebellion against God and ultimately caused his downfall. He went from being Lucifer, to being Satan and punished by being sent to eternity in hell. Unlike Lucifer, through the blood of Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to claim our "Get out of Hell Free Card!"

Pride is a key component that led Lucifer down the path to Hell. Pride is a powerful emotion that can lead us all to destruction if we are not careful. We can see this in Lucifer's story, as his pride was his downfall, and it can be our downfall too. The enemy is always out to deceive us and make us think that we are better than we are, or that we are never good enough. Either of these can lead us to make decisions that draw us away from God.

We are warned of the dangers of pride throughout scripture. Proverbs 16:18 tells us "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Pride can be incredibly destructive, as it was for Lucifer, who thought he deserved to be like God. This is what led to him being kicked out of heaven. We must remember that the enemy is always out to deceive us and lead us astray. We serve a loving God, who allows freedom. With freedom comes choice. We need to remember that following the Lord is a choice. Likewise, listening to the lies of the enemy is a choice. Faith takes action and is a series of decisions that either draw us closer or pull us away from God. God is the only one who is truly worthy of glory and honor.

The story of Lucifer's fall from Heaven and his transformation into Satan is an important reminder of the power of pride and how it can lead us astray. We must be mindful of the power of pride and make sure that we are not allowing it to consume us. We must remember that following the Lord is a choice. With the Lord's help, we can make the right decisions, ones that bring glory and honor to our Father. God loves us and wants us to follow Him. His love for us is unconditional, and He wants us to find peace and joy in Him.

Lucifer thought he could be like God, and that led to his fall. We should not forget this lesson and be aware of how pride can be destructive for us too. We should keep our eyes focused on God and have faith that we can turn to Him for guidance and wisdom. We should open our hearts and learn to place our trust in our Heavenly Father and not in our own abilities. By doing this, we can stay on the right path and avoid the pitfalls of pride. By simply giving our hearts to the Lord, we can claim the victory that we have in Jesus! The battle is already won! The game is over! We have our "get out of hell free card!" ©Rita Larson 8/12/2023
