"Give Me More!"

As we approach the end of the Christmas season and anticipate the start of the New Year, there is a burning desire within me for more Presence. I am not talking about the presents we pulled from under the tree or the material things we received during this time, but rather, the presence of God in my life. I yearn to experience His presence more than ever before. I want to be immersed in His love, His goodness, and His power. I want the Holy Spirit, who dwells within me, to be constantly revealed so that I can fully step into the person that God has called me to be.

In the Bible, we see time and time again how the presence of God brought about miraculous transformations and breakthroughs. In Exodus 33:14, Moses pleads with God, saying, "If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." Moses understood that without the presence of God going before him, there was no point in moving forward. Similarly, in Psalm 16:11, David declares, "In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." David recognized that true joy and lasting fulfillment could only be found in the presence of God.
There are several other scriptures that highlight the power of God's presence in our lives. One such scripture is found in Acts 1:8, where Jesus tells his disciples, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." This power is not just for ourselves, but it is also meant to impact those around us. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we become vessels overflowing with all that God has to offer.

Another scripture that emphasizes the power of God's presence is found in 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." When we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us, fear has no place in our lives. Instead, we are filled with power, love, and a sound mind. We become bold and courageous, ready to face any challenges that come our way.

Lastly, in Romans 8:11 we read, "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." The same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides within us through the Holy Spirit. This power enables us to overcome any obstacles and walk in victory.
As we close out this Christmas season and prepare for New Year's, let us hunger and thirst for more of God's presence. Let us seek Him earnestly and wholeheartedly, knowing that in His presence, we will find everything we need. May we be vessels that overflow with His love, goodness, and power, impacting those around us. The Holy Spirit is at work within us, upon us, and all around us, ready to manifest His power and bring about transformation. Let us open our hearts and minds and receive all that He has for us. ©Rita Larson 12/26/2023
