The Christmas season is finally here, and it's truly the most wonderful time of the year! It's a time filled with joy, love, and the spirit of giving. While many of us eagerly anticipate receiving gifts during this holiday, let's remember that the true essence of Christmas lies in giving rather than getting. We celebrate Christmas because of the free gift of Jesus Christ that was given to us all! Jesus is the reason for the season and why we celebrate by giving to those we love. It's a season where we have the opportunity to spread happiness and make a difference in the lives of those around us.

Acts 20:35 beautifully captures the essence of Christmas. It reminds us that our purpose is to be a blessing to others. We are all called to care for one another by lifting each other up and offering support to those around us. In this verse, it says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." These words are spoken by Jesus Himself and a truth to stand on. When we give selflessly, we experience a sense of fulfillment and joy that cannot be matched by any material possessions.
Christmas is not just about exchanging gifts; it's about showing love and kindness to others. We can make a difference in someone's life by being there for them, offering a helping hand, or simply spreading cheer with a warm smile. It's about being compassionate and supporting those who may be going through difficult times. By giving our time, love, and resources to those in need, we can truly embody the spirit of Christmas.

So this Christmas season, let's focus on giving rather than getting. Let's remember that the reason for the season is not the presents we receive, but rather the love we share with others. We should purposefully make a positive impact on the lives of those around us and create lasting memories filled with love and joy. After all, the greatest gift we can give is the gift of love, and that is what Christmas is all about. ©Rita Larson 12/21/2023
