"Grab Your Shoes!"

This morning, as I was studying and praying, I noticed that my feet were cold, which is normal for me but today, really noticeable! There is just something about our feet. Have you ever had on an uncomfortable pair of shoes? They make us miserable! The older I have gotten, the more important my focus has changed from “pretty” shoes to “comfortable” shoes. With that being said, while already studying in the book of Ephesians, I was drawn to one of my favorite chapters!
Ephesians 6:10-17, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
Ephesians 6:14-15, stood out since my focus was already heavily on our feet! We are told to “stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” The gospel of peace is synonymous to our shoes. We need to stand firmly in peace! This peace is found in Jesus and his sacrifice for us. Jesus himself said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27). Jesus also said, in John 16:33,"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Peace is a spiritual protection that comes from faith in the promises of God. We can experience peace during times of trouble, knowing that God is in control and will bring us through any situation. The shoes of the gospel of peace equip us to run out of difficult situations and to run straight to God, no matter what the terrain. Matthew 10:14 says, "And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet." With our shoes of peace firmly attached, we can confidently shake off the dust and move towards God.
Our shoes have a special role to play in the armour of God. With our feet fitted with the gospel of peace, we can stand firmly and comfortably when battles come our way. By tapping into the power of God, and utilizing the Holy Spirit within us, we will be equipped with the courage to get out of difficult situations! Jesus has overcome the world! No matter what comes our way, we can find peace in Him. When we have our feet fitted with the gospel of peace, we can walk in victory, knowing the battle is already won!
