First, let me start by saying Happy Father's Day to all of the Fathers out there, especially to my husband. I am so grateful to have such a Godly and loving husband by my side. There is nothing he would not do for his family, and the values he has instilled into our family are so very evident. Brian Larson, I am honored to be your wife!
Today, my husband had an awesome opportunity to share a Father's Day word at our church. I am going to include the link at the end so that you have the opportunity to hear what he had to say for yourself. I decided to do take an excerpt from his wonderful message to build upon and share.
Per Brian's message:

It's Father's Day, and what better way to celebrate than to reflect on the importance of being a Godly father. In our current culture, it can be hard to be a Godly father, but it is a needed and incredibly important role. One of the most important analogies in the bible of fatherhood, is the love that God the Father, has for us. Our Father in Heaven chose the role of a father to show us how much He loves us, and how He cares for us and relates to us.
To understand just how much God values fatherhood, we can look to the scriptures. In Matthew 7:9-11, Jesus says, “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” When we bring our needs to the Father, He responds in abundance! He is the Giver of Good Gifts and life in abundance!

When we become fathers, we have a limited time to do our job, to nurture and raise our children to be responsible adults. Mark 10:29-30 says, “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.” Notice no father is mentioned in what you will receive! That is because our early father is a temporary position. HE, our Father in Heaven is eternal and is our 100-fold Father!

Psalm 90:10-12 "Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. If only we knew the power of your anger! Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Father God, teach us to value and number our days, with our children.
How many more birthdays or Christmas we will have? How many more times attending church together? How many more school events? Numbering your days allows you to see how important your time is as a father. It is priceless and irreplaceable. As a father, the goal is to set our children up for success and teach them God's deep and abiding love. Once they are matured and grown, It is time to release the role of father to our Heavenly Father. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way that he should go; when he is old he will not depart from it.”!

So, as you celebrate Father’s Day, turn your eyes to your Heavenly Father and give thanks for His love, His care, and His provision. As fathers, we have a precious, limited time to be a part of our children's lives, and it is important that we use that time wisely! Leave the legacy of a God-Centered life for generations to come! ©Rita Larson 6/18/2023 with excerpts from Brian Larson's message 6/18/2023 used with permission.
