"How To Develop Confidence!"

We can all relate to having moments of self-doubt and fear. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and begin to wonder if we have the courage to face a challenge.

John 16:33 says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” This scripture serves as a reminder that we can have peace and confidence in God even when the world is full of tribulation. That peace and confidence comes from a relationship with God, which is different from having self-confidence.

Confidence in ourselves can be fleeting. It can come and go depending on the situation or the circumstances. It is an emotion that can be manufactured, but it will not sustain us in challenging times. God-confidence, on the other hand, is based on a relationship with God. Our faith in Him grows as we get to know Him better. As we get more God-confident, our courage in Him grows! He gives us the courage to do things that are outside of our comfort zone.

A great example of God-confidence is found in the story of David and Goliath. David stepped out in faith, believing that God was greater than the giant before him. He had the courage to face Goliath, not because of his own strength, but because he had confidence in God. Despite being a young, inexperienced shepherd, David was able to face down the giant Goliath and defeat him because he was confident in the Lord’s strength. David’s courage and faith were not based on his own abilities but on his confidence in God’s power. We can also have that same confidence in God.

Psalm 56:3-4 states, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” This scripture reminds us that when we are afraid, we can place our trust in God. When we do this, we can have the courage to face our fears and do things that we never thought we could do.

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” This scripture reminds us that God gives us the power to overcome our fears. It also tells us that His love gives us strength and His self-control helps us to make wise decisions.

When we have confidence in ourselves, we can only do so much. But when we have confidence in God, we can do anything. He gives us the strength and courage to face anything that comes our way. He gives us the peace to know that He is in control, and He gives us the power to do what we thought was impossible. Dig deep into God's Word and build up your God-confidence! In Him, you will gain the courage to do the impossible! ©Rita Larson 7/26/20
