Jesus: Our Way of Escape

I went to an Escape Room this evening with some friends from church. It was fun and challenging. We had to deactivate a bomb before it exploded. Think about how many times in life you may have walked into a hornet's nest, feeling like any time the bomb was going to explode. Are you feeling like the walls are closing in on you? Are you in an escape room with no way out? If you are in such a situation, don’t fear, for Jesus is here! He is our way of escape when our world seems to be falling apart. Jesus is our answer!

When we are feeling overwhelmed, we can turn to Jesus and find a way out. Jesus is the ultimate escape, and He can help us get through the toughest of situations. He is the one who will guide us and show us the way out. He is the only one who can provide us with the peace and comfort we need in difficult times.

When we become believers, we are in this world but not of this world. We are set apart from the world and Jesus is our guide. To illustrate this concept, let’s look at an analogy between finding Jesus and getting out of an escape room. Just like in an escape room, where we have to find the clues and solve the puzzles to get out, when we come to Jesus we must search the scriptures for the clues and solve the puzzles to find the best way to navigate life's challenges. Just like in an escape room, once we’ve found the way out, we are free from the darkness and can experience the freedom and joy that comes with Jesus.

Now let’s look at three scriptures that illustrate what sets Christians apart from the world. First, there is Romans 12:2, which states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Here, we see that we must not be conformed to the world, but instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We must not get caught up in the ways of this world, but instead focus on finding God’s will for our lives.

Next, there is John 15:19, which says, “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Here, Jesus reminds us that although we are in the world, we are not of it. We are set apart and the world hates us for it. We are to remain separate and distinct from the world and its ways.

Finally, there is 1 John 2:15-17, which says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” Here, we are reminded that we must not love the world or the things in it. We must focus on doing the will of God and abiding in Him forever.

When we are feeling like the walls are closing in on us, we must turn to Jesus and focus on Him. We must not get caught up in the ways of this world, but instead seek the will of God in our lives. We must not love the world or the things of the world, but instead focus on abiding in God forever. Jesus is our way of escape, and He will provide us with the peace and comfort we need to get through any situation.

So, if you’re feeling like the walls are closing in on you, don’t fear! Jesus is here and He is our way of escape when our world seems to be falling apart. Turn to Jesus and find a way out. He is the one who will guide us and show us the way out. He will provide us with the peace and comfort we need in difficult times. So don’t be conformed to this world, but instead be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Don’t love the world or the things in it, but instead focus on doing the will of God and abiding in Him forever. Jesus is our ultimate escape, and He will always be there to help us get through the toughest of situations. ©Rita Larson 7/28/2023
