What a fantastic day fishing we had today in San Pedro, Belize! We called so many Snappers we will have plenty to give away and bless some of the people we come in contact with while here on vacation. In addition, Brian caught a really nice Baracuda! With God's favor, we had such a wonderful day! We got to hang with a few very special friends and had one of the best fishing trips we have been on!

Have you ever wondered why Jesus chose fishermen to be His disciples? Why this particular profession? As it turns out, there is a powerful spiritual lesson that Jesus was teaching us by using fishermen to be fishers of men. "Right away" Jesus calls out to Simon and Andrew, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). Immediately, these two fishermen left their nets and followed Jesus. Why? What was so special about Jesus’ authoritative words?

The answer can be found in the book of Ecclesiastes: “A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men” (Ecclesiastes 10:4). Just as fishermen have a special ability to cast nets and draw in fish, so too does Jesus have the ability to draw in lost and broken souls. Jesus was using His gift – His ability to reach out and draw in those two ordinary men – to call out to these two fishermen, who then followed Him. The same is true for us today. We, too, have the unique ability to draw in those who have lost their way and to be fishers of men. Just as Jesus used Simon and Andrew, He can use you to help heal the brokenhearted and speak life into those that are lost! It is time for us all to "go fishing!" ©Rita Larson6/12/2023
