"Need VS Greed"

ree

God is the Creator and owns everything that He has blessed us with. He has placed us in a position of stewardship. God promises to supply all of our needs, but He does not promise to supply all our greed. Corinthians 4:2, where Paul reminds us, “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” This verse clearly communicates that we have a responsibility to be faithful stewards of all that God has entrusted to us.

Philippians 4:17 tells us, “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” This verse speaks to the importance of reaping what we sow and of giving in order to receive a return on our investments. Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” This speaks to the fact that God will provide us with all that we need, in return, we are to be faithful in managing His assets. Think about the significance in “according to His riches and glory.” Our God is able to supply all of our needs. We are in this world but not of this world. The world has a finite amount of riches, but God, His treasures are infinite and the possibilities endless, for with God, all things are possible!

1 Timothy 6:9-10 reminds us, “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” It is not money itself that is evil, but the love of money and greed. Money is a powerful force, and when used to invest in eternal things, such as the Word of God and the salvation of mankind, it can lay up treasures in heaven.

We should use our money to invest in God’s kingdom and in eternity. As stated in 1 Timothy 6:9-10, money should be used to “lay up treasure in heaven” instead of earthly treasures. This is reiterated in Matthew 6:20, “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.”

Scriptures such as Luke 16:10-11 emphasize the importance of tithing and giving. We are instructed to give back to God and to be generous with our resources. This is echoed in Philippians 4:17, which states: “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.” Here, we are reminded that our giving should be done with the goal of pleasing God and not just seeking a reward. When we are faithful in managing the small things, then God will entrust us with greater things. After all, He did come to give us life in abundance. It is His desire to be glorified in all that we do!

We should strive to use our financial resources to honor God and demonstrate our commitment to Him. When we use our resources to invest in God’s kingdom and in eternity, we are truly investing in something that will last forever. By tithing and being generous with our resources, we show our trust in God and our faith in His promises. This is an important part of spiritual growth and will help us to reap what we sow.

In conclusion, honoring God with our finances is an integral part of our spiritual growth and development. We have a responsibility to honor God in our giving. We must be faithful stewards of all that God has given us, using our financial resources to invest in God’s kingdom and in eternity. We are to be generous with our resources and use them to glorify God and demonstrate our trust in Him. As we do this, we will reap the rewards of our giving and be blessed abundantly. Just remember, God promises to supply our need, not satisfy our greed!
