"Peace: A Byproduct of Faith"

ree

In John 14:27, Jesus tells us, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” This scripture is a powerful reminder of the peace that Jesus left us with. But what does it mean to have peace? And how do we find it?

Peace is a direct byproduct of our faith in God. When we trust in God and walk in His truths, that is where we find peace that surpasses all understanding. Faith plays an integral role in our peace, and it is only through faith that we can find true peace. We are told in Isaiah 58:14, “Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” This is a reminder to us that we must have faith in God and trust in Him. When we do this, we can rise above the things of this world. Notice here that it says "ride" upon high places. When you submit to God and fully trust in Him, having faith that He will do what He said He would do, peace will come. It will be smooth sailing. I picture "riding upon high places of the earth" as soaring like an eagle without a care in the world.

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” This is a reminder for us to be vigilant in guarding our hearts and minds against the enemy’s lies and temptations. We should keep our focus on Jesus and His Word and not give in to the worries and fears of this world. When we do this, our faith in God will be strengthened, and our peace will be assured.

The peace that Jesus left us with is a powerful reminder of His love for us. He wants us to experience His peace daily and let it be the powerful driving force that we need to stay strong in the Lord. We must have faith in God and trust in His plans for our lives. When we do this, we will find true peace in Him. \

Ultimately, it is up to us to choose peace. We have the power through our faith to choose to trust in God and walk in His truth. We can choose to rise against the enemy and walk upon the high places, soaring like eagles when faced with challenges. We can cast down every imagination that comes against God. When we do this, we find true peace, a byproduct of our faith in Jesus Christ! ©Rita Larson 1/7/2024
