When my husband and I first met, we were both in a place of complacency. We both had some pretty deep wounds that needed to heal. Of these, we realized that we both also had some church hurts from the past that we were carrying. We both had a passion for the Lord and were strong Christians, but not connected and serving in the body of Christ how we knew we should be. Let's face it, we’ve all been there, feeling like a robot, in church on Sunday morning, just going through the motions. We come in, sing a few songs, listen to a sermon, then we’re out the door. Maybe you have even reached the point of not feeling like it is worth going to anymore. Sometimes we have to go back to the basics....
When we think of being a Christian, what comes to mind? We often think of going to church and reading the Bible. While these are important aspects of our faith, there are some frequently forgotten elements that shouldn’t be overlooked: the importance of getting connected and serving the body of Christ. So, what is our responsibility as members of the body of Christ? Are we using our God-given gift to serve the rest of the body, or are we just taking and not giving anything back? Are we just showing up to church to get filled up and then going home for the week? Are we using our gifts to contribute and become a source of strength, energy, support, and love for others?

As Christians, we are called to share our gifts and talents with others. In 1 Corinthians 12:11-14, Paul talks about how God has given us these gifts for the purpose of working together in unity. But why? The answer is found in 1 Corinthians 12:18, which states, "But now God has set the members, every one of them, in the body, as it pleases him." In other words, God has given us our gifts to use to serve the body of Christ. We are to use our God-given talents to help others, show love and support, and to be a source of strength.
But how can we do this? We can do this by using our gifts in practical ways. We can use our talents to help others in need, to provide encouragement, and to be an example of God’s love. We can also use our gifts to serve in our churches, teach, and help build up the body of Christ. No matter how large or small our gifts may be, it is important that we use them to the best of our ability to serve the body of Christ. We can be a source of strength and encouragement for others and be a witness to God's love.

In conclusion, it is important that we use our God-given gifts to serve the body of Christ. If you are not connected to a church, do yourself a favor, and get connected! Plug in! By not connecting, you are not only doing yourself a disservice, but you are robbing others of the blessings that God has for them by withholding the gifts He gave you to give freely to others! We are called to use our gifts to show love and support and to be a source of strength and encouragement to others. Let's use our gifts to build up the body of Christ and glorify God!
