"Say Ahhhhh!"

Giving the little things over to God and letting go is not always easy, let alone even bigger obstacles we face. We need to remember that there is no mountain that God cannot move! There is no problem so big that God cannot solve it. There is no need that we have that is so far away that God's outstretched arm cannot reach it.

Notice how Jeremiah declares in Jeremiah 32:17, "Ah, Sovereign Lord! How awesome your power and might! You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” Have you ever noticed how Jeremiah starts out by saying, "Ah"? We use "Ah" to show relief. Imagine coming into your house on a hot summer day. You grab a glass of ice-cold water and take a big swig. You set it on the table, and say "ahhhhh" because it was so refreshing and relieving. The glass of water immediately quenched our thirst and left us feeling refreshed. We could also use the example of falling into our bed after a day of hard work. We pull back the back covers, lay down, falling into the comfort and security of our bed saying, "Ahhhhh".

When Jeremiah starts off saying "Ah", we should let that be an example of how we need to respond when we are facing challenges. We need to cast our cares to God, fall back into the arms of the Father, and just say, "Ah", being relieved because we know that we are in the palm of His hand. When we take the time to rest in the Lord, give Him our burdens, and trust that He is in control, we can experience a deep sense of peace and joy that surpasses all understanding. This is the power of resting in the Lord. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

As Psalm 37:4-5 tells us, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” When we put our trust in God, we can be sure that He will bring about His perfect will in our lives. In Psalm 46:10, we read: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” This is a reminder to take a step back and remember who is really in control. In Isaiah 41:10, we read: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse offers us a promise that no matter what struggles we face, God is with us and He is ready to help us.
God is omnipotent, He is powerful, and He is in control. We serve a sovereign God, and there is no problem too big to bring to Him! We just need to be willing to fall back into the Father's arms and say "Ahhhhhh"! ©Rita Larson 6/14/2023
