"Stop in Your Tracks!"

The closer it gets to vacation next week, the more heat the devil cranks up! Between stress at work, news of a few deaths impacting people I care about, and traveling all over the country I began to feel overwhelmed. I decided that I just needed to stop in my tracks and take a moment and focus on our heavenly Father! Sometimes, we just need to pray!

As I prayed, I was reminded that I just need to take a deep breath, focus on what is important, and give the rest to God! As I paused and changed gears, I was reminded that our time here is precious and our days are numered. We never know when our time to leave this world will come. Have you ever really thought about your days being numbered? We all have a limited time here on earth and it is easy to forget that. That’s why it is so important to make the most out of the precious life that God has given us!
Psalm 90:12 says “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”. This scripture emphasizes that we must pay attention to our days here on earth and make sure we are using our time wisely. We only have one life and one chance to make a difference and fulfill our purpose. We must focus on today and not put off to tomorrow what we should do today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 also speaks to this, saying, "For he says, 'In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation." Life is fleeting and we should use the time that God has given us wisely. NOW, today, is the time! This sense of urgency is because tomorrow is not promised. We do not know what tomorrow holds. 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory". And in James 4:14, “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away”. One minute we are here, and the next, gone!
The one thing that is certain, is our uncertainty! We do not know when our time will come to an end. Let us live a life full of love, joy, and peace! Through Jesus Christ, we have the gift of salvation and eternal life! We are all called to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to others! What better gift to share, than the gift of salvation!! ©Rita Larson 6/08/23
