Taste The Bread!

My husband is an amazing baker! I love watching him create from scratch, perfectly shaped and delightfully tasting breads and other baked goods. I am always fascinated by the detailed craftsmanship he puts into his breads. Each ingredient is measured and mixed with precision, kneading dough with so much care and compassion to be hand-crafted into a unique, perfect loaf.

God has a way of taking the broken pieces of our lives and using them to create something beautiful. He is the Master Craftsman, using His power and love to shape us and make us into something new. Just as a baker kneads and shapes dough to create a unique loaf, so God works in us to create something unique and special. In John 6:35, Jesus declares, "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." Jesus is the bread that sustains us, the bread that gives us life. He is the bread that nourishes us and fills every need.

In Psalm 38, David fleeing Gath and escaping to safety is a powerful reminder of the power of God to transform our lives. The Psalmist encourages us to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8), because God can turn even the most bitter experiences into sweet and meaningful moments. This is a powerful example of what is possible when we turn to Jesus. That is the very essence of our relationship with Jesus - to taste and see that He is good. As we taste and see, our faith and trust in Him grows and we come to realize that He is the only one who can truly feed us and provide us with the sustenance of life.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul tells us, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." When we turn to Jesus, we are made new in Him, and all the bitterness of the past is gone. We become less and He becomes more. As we turn to Jesus and surrender our lives to Him, He takes over and becomes the true Bread of Life, the one who sustains us and provides for all our needs.

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me” (Psalm 23:4). God is always with us, and only He can take even the most difficult circumstances and turn them into something beautiful. We can trust in His power and love to transform our lives, no matter what we face. He is the one who sustains us, who provides us with the bread of life, and when we praise Him, we open ourselves up to His presence and His sustaining power. Oh taste and see and let Him turn your bitterness into sweetness! ©Rita Larson 3/29/2023
