"Thankful For What?!"

My friends and family are all aware that I have went through a tough season the past few years. I am now healed and walking in a life of restoration. I am so thankful to our Heavenly Father for the many blessings that I have including my husband, my family, my health, my friends, my job, etc. So many things in life we take for granted until we don't have them anymore. It is easy to become complacent and forget to express gratitude for the gifts God has given us.

Gratitude is a powerful virtue that opens our minds to the richness of a Godly life. When we cultivate a heart of gratitude, we become spiritually aware of the wonders that surround us, even in the smallest things that bring us joy. It is through gratitude that we are able to see the message of the Father's love for us, a love that is expressed through His creation and His blessings upon our lives. As we acknowledge God in all things, our senses are heightened, and we become keenly aware of His presence in our daily lives. We begin to recognize His divine direction and guidance, leading us on a path of righteousness. It is through this awareness that we develop a lifestyle of thanksgiving, where our hearts overflow with gratitude for all that God has done for us.

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in cultivating gratitude within us. He is the one who enables us to see God's handiwork in every aspect of our lives. When we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, He fills us with joy and helps us to recognize the blessings that are bestowed upon us each day. Through His presence, we are able to listen to the voice of God, guiding us and directing our steps. The Holy Spirit teaches us to walk in gratitude, reminding us to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for our lives (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Gratitude is not just a fleeting emotion or a one-time feeling of appreciation. It is a lifestyle, a way of living that permeates every aspect of our being. When we live a life of gratitude, we are constantly aware of God's goodness and love towards us. We are able to find joy in even the smallest things because we see them as tokens of God's affection for us. This mindset transforms our perspective and allows us to experience the fullness of life that God intends for us.

Psalm 100:4 says, "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name." This verse reminds us that gratitude is not just a feeling but also an outward expression of praise and worship towards God. When we approach God with a heart full of gratitude, we invite His presence into our lives and experience His blessings in abundance.

Gratitude opens our minds to the beauty and wonder of life. It allows us to see beyond the mundane and ordinary and recognize the extraordinary hand of God at work in every detail. It is through gratitude that we are able to fully appreciate the richness of a Godly life and walk in alignment with His will. As we cultivate gratitude in our hearts, let us always remember to give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His love endures forever (Psalm 106:1). We need to approach each day with a grateful heart! What are your thankful for? ©Rita Larson 9/20/2023
