"The Blame Game"

Have you ever felt the weight of shame? Have you ever been wronged or hurt by someone else? The enemy loves to take that hurt and amplify it, making us feel like we are the ones to blame for what someone else did. That’s not who we are in Christ! Why should we carry the weight of someone else's sin?

As Christians, we are children of God, and our identity is found in Christ and is an identity of power and strength, not of shame and guilt. We have no need to carry around the burden of shame for what someone else did. In fact, the Bible tells us that the Lord is our strength and our shield and that He will sustain us and lift us up (Psalm 28:7).

We are God’s children, and He has equipped us with all the power and resources we need to stand firm in the face of adversity. We can find strength in the Lord and in His word. Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us that we need to embrace the courage and strength that we have within us because we know that we have the power of God living on the inside, always with us.

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” We know that if we are in Christ, we are free from condemnation. No matter what we have done or what has been done to us, we are free from condemnation. We are forgiven and we have a new identity in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” If we are in Christ, we are a new creature with a new identity. We are not defined by our past or by the things that have been done to us. We are defined by Christ and His perfect love.

In 1 Peter 2:9-10 the Bible says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." This verse tells us that we are royalty! We are God’s people and have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Just as we have been forgiven, when we have been wronged, we have the power to forgive. We can choose to forgive the person who wronged us and move on, knowing that God has already forgiven us for our own sins and failures (Ephesians 4:32). God does not want us to be held captive by someone else's sin! If we stay in a cocoon of condemnation, we will never flourish into a beautiful butterfly!

So let us lay down the shame and guilt! No matter what we have been through, no matter how much we have been wronged, we have to remember who we are in Christ. We are worthy of the love of the Father! We are God’s chosen people, heirs with Christ, and royal priests. We are not defined by the hurt or wrongs done to us by others but by the love and mercy of our Lord. So let us take strength in this knowledge and live our lives according to the truth of God’s Word!
