"The Most Powerful Name!"

This morning at church (Relate Church in Suffolk, Virginia), we sang a new song that we have never done before. It was so touching and is the "Song of the Day" at the end! It has impacted me all day as I keep finding myself running through the song in my head. We all need Jesus and need to be speaking the Holy name of Jesus over our lives and into our lives!
The name of Jesus is not just a collection of letters arranged in a specific order; it is a powerful and can transform lives. The Bible tells us that there is no other name under Heaven by which we can be saved except the name of Jesus. We see in Acts 4:10-12 "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." The name of Jesus is not just a religious symbol, but it carries with it the power to change our lives in a profound way.
Jesus and His name is a source of strength and comfort for ALL believers. When we face difficult situations, we can call on the name of Jesus for help and Jesus will meet us where we are at! The Bible tells us that if we ask anything in Jesus' name, He will do it for us! John 14:12-14, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it." This means that we can approach the throne of our Father boldly, with confidence, knowing that Jesus is interceding for us.
The name of Jesus has the power to calm our fears and anxieties. When we are overwhelmed by the challenges of life, we can call on the name of Jesus to bring peace to our hearts. We can speak out the name of Jesus, knowing that every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth' Philippians 2:9-11, "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." We may walk through a time that to us feels impossible to get through, but there is no situation so bleak that we cannot call on the name of Jesus and Jesus will show up! Through the blood of Jesus we will be rescued!
We see numerous accounts in the Bible where the power of God is released when we call on the name of Jesus. In the book of Acts, for example, we see Peter and John healing a man who was unable to walk. When asked by the religious leaders how they did it, Peter replied, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk" (Acts 3:6). This demonstrates the power of the name of Jesus to heal and transform lives.
Again, the apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." This shows us just how important the name of Jesus is in our daily lives. Without Jesus, we are lost.
The name of Jesus is also an essential part of prayer and worship. When we pray, we can call on the name of Jesus to intercede for us. The Bible tells us that Jesus is our mediator and intercessor, and He is always interceding for us before the Father. Hebrews 7:25-26, "Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens." In worship, we can use the name of Jesus to express our love and adoration for Him. The Bible tells us that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:11). When we use the name of Jesus in worship , we are acknowledging His Lordship over our lives! We are acknowledging that He is The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!
The name of Jesus has the power to change our lives in a profound way. When we call on the name of Jesus, we are inviting Him into our lives and asking Him to work in us. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, He is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
The name of Jesus also provides healing to our bodies and minds. It is by His wounds, we are healed! Isaiah 53:5 "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes, we are healed." This means that when we call on the name of Jesus, we can receive physical and emotional healing, knowing that because of Jesus and the blood that He shed, we have healing! We have been delivered from sin, sickness and death! We are saved by grace through faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ!
When we call out to Jesus, we are tapping into a source of power that is greater than anything we could ever imagine. The name of Jesus is also a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare. When we face spiritual battles, we can call on the name of Jesus to overcome our enemies. We know that the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" When we use the name of Jesus in spiritual warfare, we are tapping into Jesus Himself, a source of power that is greater than any enemy we may face. The enemy does not stand a chance when we call on the name of Jesus!
When we have a relationship with Jesus and are born again, we can unleash the power of God in our lives simply by calling on His name! All we have to do is incorporate the name of Jesus into our lives! Start by praying in Jesus' name and using the name of Jesus during your times of worship. When we call out to Jesus, He will bring healing and transformation! Get into the Word of God and read what Jesus has done and will do for you!
When we have a relationship with Jesus and call out His name, we can be assured that speaking the name of Jesus, brings power to any situation. Jesus is our source of strength and comfort! Jesus has the power to heal and bring about change. By incorporating Jesus into our daily lives, we can tap into a source of power that is greater than anything we could ever imagine. No matter how difficult the situation, calling on the name of Jesus can make all the difference. He will always meet us where we are at! Jesus and His precious name, the Name above all Names, is the ultimate power tool for ALL believers! ©Rita Larson 4/30/2023
