The Stone is Rolled Away!

Updated: Apr 9, 2023

The story of Jesus' resurrection begins with two faithful women, Mary Magdalene and Mary, mother of James. They went to the tomb of Jesus early in the morning, only to find it empty and the stone that sealed the entrance had been rolled aside. They were stunned, but their confusion and fear quickly turned to joy when two angels appeared to them and told them the good news that Jesus had risen from the dead! Luke 24:5, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” The women ran to tell the disciples the great news, but before they got there they met Jesus and fell at his feet worshipping him. Jesus told them to tell the disciples that he would meet them in Galilee.

The news of Jesus' resurrection spread quickly, and the disciples, who had been grieving and doubting, were filled with hope and joy. Luke 24:5 says, "They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled and saying, ‘It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.’” They quickly spread the word to others, and it was not long before people were gathering to worship Him as the risen Lord.

This miraculous event was the fulfillment of the promises that Jesus had made to his disciples. He had told them that He would be crucified and buried, but that He would rise again on the third day (John 2:19-21). He also said that in His resurrection, He would receive a new kind of glorified body that would never die (Philippians 3:21).

Just as breath had been breathed into Adam, mankind can receive spiritual breath and be resurrected from spiritual deadness. We can be given a new life, a gift free for all from our Lord and Savior. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). When we accept Jesus, our lifeless sin nature is crucified with Christ, and we are resurrected through Him. The sin in our life has been destroyed. No longer do we walk in darkness, but we walk in light. John 10:10, “I am come that they may have life and may have it more abundantly.”

It is only through Jesus that we can gain access to the presence of God and be set free from sin and death. It is a reminder that no matter what we face in life, our God is with us and will never leave us. He is alive, and He is still offering salvation to all who believe in Him. We are victorious and sin and death have been defeated and no longer have a grip on us! Through Jesus, we can have our sins forgiven and be reconciled with God. Through Jesus, we can have a new life in Him and experience the joy of being part of His Kingdom. All we need to do is to believe in Him and accept His offer of salvation.

If you want to accept Jesus into your heart it is as easy as a simple prayer, such as the following “Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and on the 3rd day, you rose from the grave so that I may have eternal life. I am asking for forgiveness of my sins so that I can be a part of your family and experience life in abundance, in both heaven and while on earth. Thank you that I am no longer dead in sin, but alive in you. Thank you that I no longer walk in darkness, but I walk in the light of your love. Thank you for breaking the chains of bondage over my life and setting me free. I rejoice, knowing my future is with you, and may you be glorified in all that I do. This I pray in the name of Jesus, AMEN!”

If you made the decision to invite Jesus into your heart, I would love to hear about it. If you have questions and would like someone to pray with you, please send me a message or reach out to me. I am always happy to share what God has done in my life, and what He can do in yours! © Rita Larson 4/9/2023

"Roll The Stones Away"

The road of life gets rocky and narrow,

Obstacles sometimes get in the way

But I have learned to cast my cares upon God

And let Him roll the stones away!

Just as He did for Jesus

On that precious Resurrection Day,

When a rock stood between God and Mankind,

He just rolled that stone away!

So, trust in the Lord and stand on His Word,

Knowing that day by day

When the trials of life try to get you down

Just let Him roll all of the stones away!
