"True Peace!"

In Belize this morning, as we were resting and relaxing, overlooking some of the most magnificent clear blue water we have ever seen, I paused. I took a minute and shut my eyes, taking a few deep breaths, realizing how peaceful and serene everything is around me. It is such a reminder that true peace has nothing to do with our surroundings. There are times in my life when I could have been in this same environment, but there would have been no peace at all. It has nothing to do with where I am, it has to do with who I am in Christ. True peace comes from within. As we get to know the Father, we begin to look at the world around us the way He does.
In Matthew 8:23-27, Jesus promised to give us His peace. He is the only source of true and lasting peace. There is going to be turmoil that comes our way, always. The Lord never promised us an easy life, but He did promise us peace in the midst of our struggles. In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” What a beautiful promise this is! We can have confidence in the knowledge that no matter what is going on in our lives, we can find peace in our relationship with Jesus.
Again, In John 16:33, Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world. you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. " Jesus again tells us that no matter
what is going on in this world, we can find peace in Him. Even when our circumstances are complicated, we can find peace in the fact that Jesus has overcome the world. We now have the Holy Spirit living within us to help be our guide.
The peace Jesus offers us is unlike anything the world can ever give us. It is an assurance of inner peace and comfort that can remain with us even in the midst of our greatest trials. Without Jesus, there is no real peace! ©Rita Larson 6/13/2023
