Speaking the truth is a critical part of life. It is imperative that we learn to speak in a way that reflects the truth and integrity of our words. The Bible offers many examples of how speaking the truth is essential to living a life that is pleasing to God.

Proverbs 12:17 says, “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.” This verse speaks volumes about the power of truth-telling and how it can bring about justice and righteousness in the world. Speaking the truth is a way to show respect and honor to God and His Word. When we are honest and truthful in our speech, we are showing God that we trust Him and His promises.
Psalm 15:2 reads, “He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” This verse speaks to the importance of truth-telling in our daily walk with God. We are to be honest in our dealings and speak the truth in our hearts. This shows that God desires us to live our lives with integrity and to be truthful in all of our speech.

Proverbs 16:13 says, “Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.” This verse speaks to the importance of using our words in a way that is pleasing to God and to those around us. When we speak with integrity and truth, we can be sure that our words will be pleasing to both God and those around us.
Finally, Proverbs 19:9 states, “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.” This verse speaks to the consequences of speaking lies. We are warned that if we choose to speak lies, we will pay the consequences. This is a reminder that we should always speak the truth and be mindful of the words we use.
Speaking the truth is an essential element of living a Godly life. We are called to be honest and truthful in our words and always reflect the truth and justice of God's Word. We must be careful to guard our hearts from lies and always be mindful of the words we use. When we speak the truth, we can be sure that our words will be pleasing to both God and those around us. ©Rita Larson 11/5/2023
