"Walk This Way, Walk His Way!"

ree

As a Mom, one of the toughest parts of parenting was having those difficult conversations with your kids and holding them accountable for their actions. While necessary, like everything else in life, does not mean it is easy. I think of how much I love my children and how so many decisions in my life were based on what was best for them. Then I think about our Father and how much He loves us!

As Christians, we are called to follow in Jesus' footsteps and walk in love at all times. 1 Corinthians 16:14 in states, "Let all your things be done with charity," reminding us that love should be the primary motivator and guide for all of our actions. From the way we talk to each other to the decisions we make, walking in love is essential for living a life that is pleasing to God. We must recognize that love should be the driving force behind everything we do and the way we respond to others. We must learn to view the world through the lens of love, so we always respond in a loving way.

But how can we do this? How can we show love to those around us? We need to remember that love is more than just a feeling. It is also an action. We show love to others through our words, our deeds, and our attitude. When we have a heart of love, we want only the best for others. This means that sometimes it is necessary to have difficult conversations and to provide tough love. Sometimes walking in love means we make sacrifices that are not always easy to make. Our actions should be positive examples to others, helping them to understand and accept the love of God.

The Bible is filled with scriptures that remind us to walk in love. For example, John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Love is the cornerstone of our faith, and God's love is the greatest gift ever given to us all.

Another powerful scripture comes from 1 John 4:8, "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." This verse reminds us that God is the embodiment and source of love. When we walk in love, we are reflecting God's love to the world around us.

Finally, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 in the King James Version states, "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." This scripture explains the importance of love in great detail, emphasizing that it is patient, kind, and selfless.

When we walk in love, we are honoring God and setting an example for others. Love should be our primary motivator, shaping our actions and decisions. Walking in love allows us to make a powerful impact, increase the Kingdom, and glorify God in our actions! Jesus has called us to share "the good news," spread His love, and "walk His way!" ©Rita Larson 6/01/2023
