"What Can I Expect?"

When we come to the Father, we should come to Him expecting to see Him move on our behalf. We serve a God who is ABLE and can turn the unlikely into likely, and even better, the impossible into possible! This means that we can trust in His promises and live in accordance to them knowing that God is able! When we do this, we will experience the power of God in our lives. He is able to do far more than we can ever imagine. As Romans 8:31 says, "If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Abraham is a great example of this - when God promised him a son in his old age, he held on to his faith, and God "gave Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him" (Genesis 21:2 KJV). Abraham, despite being 100 years old and his wife barren, had faith that God would fulfill His promise of having descendants as numerous as the stars. Abraham believed and was blessed with a son, Isaac (Genesis 12:7; 15:5-6). This is just one example of how God blessed those who had faith in His promises.

Another example is in the book of Joshua. When the people of Israel marched around the city of Jericho, on the seventh day their faith in God caused its walls to come tumbling down. Also, we see in the book of Daniel how God protected him in the lion's den, and in the book of Esther how God gave her favor in the eyes of the king. These examples of faith in God demonstrate His power and show us that we can trust Him. When the people of Israel were delivered from Egypt. God promised Moses that He would deliver the Israelites, and Moses told the people to "stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord" (Exodus 14:13 KJV). They trusted in God’s promise and experienced the power of God when their enemies were destroyed.

We can trust that God is able to move mountains and make the impossible possible. In Mark 11:23 KJV, Jesus tells us "for verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Without faith, it is impossible to please God. When we have faith in His promises, we are able to please Him and receive the blessings He so graciously wants us to have! We can find hope in Hebrews 11:1, which says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." As we trust in the Lord and live in accordance with His leading, we will experience His blessings and the power of His covenant. When we wrap our arms around the fact that God WANTS us to come to Him, EXPECTING that He will do far more than we imagined possible, it is pleasing to our Father!

Our Father is a God of love, mercy, and power, and He wants us to come to Him with an EXPECTANT heart full of faith. As we do this, we can be confident that God will move on our behalf and do far more than we could ever imagine. When we trust in God's promises and live according to His leading, we will experience the blessings that He has for us. We can EXPECT to be saved, healed, delivered, restored, protected, and given abundant life! ©Rita Larson 4/22/2023
