What Does Omnipresence Mean?

Yesterday, when I read Psalm 139:7-12, I got teary-eyed as I grasped the depth of these scriptures. I was reminded how, all of my life, no matter what I was going through, God was with me. As believers, the enemy wants to convince us that we are all alone, but we are not! God has the ability to fill any void that we may have with His presence! Omnipresence is a term used to describe the characteristic of God that allows Him to be everywhere at all times. It is an attribute of God that speaks to His vast power and His capacity to be with us, no matter where we are or what we are facing.

Psalm 139:7-12 says, “Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend into heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.”

The Holy Spirit living on the inside of us is omnipresent. He is with us, comforting us, guiding us, and giving us strength. He is the source of our peace and joy and the One who helps us make wise decisions. He is there for us in times of trouble, and in times of triumph. No matter how far away we feel from God, He is still with us. He is always right there, waiting for us to turn to Him. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. He’s surrounded us with His love, grace, and mercy.

In addition to being omnipresent, God is also omnipotent. Revelation 19:6 tells us "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reignethThis means." He has the power to do anything and everything. No matter what obstacle we face, He has the power to help us overcome it. We can trust that He will always be there to provide us with strength and guidance.

Nothing is impossible for God! His love is so great that He is willing to go to any lengths to help us. He will never give up on us, no matter how many times we fail. We may fail, but God will never fail! ©Rita Larson 202311
