"Word of God, Speak"

After speaking to a friend today, I am reminded of all of the ways that God speaks to us. He speaks to us through scripture, and gifts of prophecy, sometimes in a still small voice and other times audibly. He can use those around us to speak to us. The key to hearing God speak to us is being willing vessels to hear what God is saying!

The Bible tells us that God still speaks to His people and that we are His sheep and know His voice. The world right now is a time of great stress and turmoil. Those around us need to hear the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ like never before. People need to know and experience the peace of God. God is giving us an opportunity to be a voice and share the good news to a world that is ripe for harvest!

The book of Hebrews 13:20-21 from the King James Version says, “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

This verse is telling us that God is the God of Peace! He is the great shepherd of the sheep. He is the one who brings us back from the dead and gives us life through Jesus Christ. He has made us perfect in every good work and He is working in us that which is well pleasing in His sight.

God is speaking to us through His word and He is using our testimony to bless others and bring them into His Kingdom. In the book of Acts we see two examples of this. In one instance, Jesus appeared to Saul on the road to Damascus and spoke to him directly. God then spoke to Ananias and told him to lay hands on Saul. Ananias did as He commanded and Saul was filled with the Holy Spirit, healed of his blindness, and immediately baptized. In another instance, God sent an angel to tell Cornelius to go and find Peter , stating he will tell him what he needs to do. As soon as Peter walked into the presence of Cornelius, Cornelius fell to his feet and began worshipping him. Peter began to to tell them about the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. As he spoke, Cornelius, his household, and friends did what he commanded and all of them accept Jesus Christ and were filled with the Holy Ghost!

God could have easily brought both Saul and Cornelius into the Kingdom without the intervention of any believer but that was not His plan. He used Ananias, Peter, and countless others to finish what He had already started. We too are part of the process, and He is speaking to us through His word and using our testimony to bless others and bring them into His kingdom.

We see this in other key scriptures as well. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Here we see that Jesus is calling us to go and make disciples, be ambassadors for Christ, and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is another example of God using our testimony to bless others and bring them into His kingdom.

God is still speaking to us, and He is using our testimony to speak to others and bring them into His kingdom. Remember, God is no respector of persons and what He will do for me, He will do for you! We are His sheep and know His voice, so let’s use this time of stress and turmoil — as an opportunity to share the good news to a world that is ripe for harvest! Let’s be passionate and enthusiastic as we proclaim the gospel and show people the way to salvation, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! ©Rita Larson 6/25/2023
