Proverbs 16:24 says, “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”

I have a dear friend that always says, “The Word is Working,” and I too, began saying it years ago. The Word always works. We need to be mindful of the power of our words, and how we can use them to bring life and encouragement to others. We are reminded of this in Proverbs 18:21, which says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” It is no secret that the words we speak can have a great impact on our lives. This is why Jesus said, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” (Mark 11:23, KJV). With words, we can move mountains! We can encourage others by speaking words of faith and planting seeds of life and hope.

When we speak the Word of God and have faith, the Holy Spirit is activated, and so is our given authority over the principalities and powers of this world. We have the same spirit of faith that Jesus, Paul, and David had. When we speak the Word, we are releasing the power of God in our lives and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us, on us, and around us! In the book of Romans 10:17 it says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” This verse reminds us of the importance of faith, and how our words can be used to convey that faith. As believers, it’s our responsibility to speak the words of life, and to use the power of God's Word as a beacon to guide our lives.

The words that come out of our mouths have the capacity to either be a blessing or a curse. We are told to "let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers" (Ephesians 4:29 KJV). Just as our words can speak life and move mountains, words can also be destructive and cause great damage. When we speak carelessly, we can destroy relationships, marriages, families, and even churches, much like a spark can start a devastating fire. Hebrews 4:12 tells us “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Remember, God's Word is true and powerful, and when embraced and spoken with faith, it can bring life and healing to our lives and the lives of those around us. We can use the power of our words to direct our lives and to encourage and edify those around us. So, let us speak the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in our lives, so that we may bring life and blessing to all those around us. Words Matter!
