The story of Ehud is one of the most vivid and encouraging accounts in the Bible of how God can change the course of a nation in a single day. The life of Ehud is a powerful reminder of the faithfulness of God to His people and His promises to them.
It all began when Ehud was called upon to serve as judge of Israel after the death of Othniel. At that time, the people of Israel had sinned and had been serving the king of Moab for 18 years (Judges 3:13-14). When the Israelites cried out for help, God sent Ehud to serve as judge and deliver them from oppression.

Ehud was a courageous and bold man, and he devised a plan to deliver Israel from the rule of Moab. He took a double-edged sword and concealed it underneath his clothing (Judges 3:16). He then went to the king of Moab, Eglon, and presented himself as a tribute bearer. After delivering the tribute, he asked the king to use the privy. The king granted his request, and Ehud used that opportunity to assassinate the king by thrusting his sword into his belly. After that, Ehud escaped from the palace, and the servants of the king found the dead body of their master (Judges 3:20-22).
Ehud had accomplished his mission of delivering Israel from the hand of Moab, and the country enjoyed 80 years of peace (Judges 3:30). His actions demonstrate that when God's people cry out to Him, He will respond and deliver them from their enemies.
The story of Ehud also serves as a reminder of God's faithfulness to His people. When the Israelites repented of their sins and turned to God, He was faithful to His promise to help them (Judges 3:9). In the same way, when we repent of our sins and turn to God, He will be faithful to His promises to us. As it is written in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

The story of Ehud is also a reminder of God's power to change the course of a nation in a single day. When the Israelites cried out to Him, He responded and delivered them from the hand of their oppressor. In the same way, God has the power to change the course of our lives in a single day. As it is written in Ephesians 3:20, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."
God is faithful to His promises to us when we repent of our sins and turn to Him. He has the power to change the course of our lives in an instant. Through the miraculous work of our Father, we can receive salvation, redemption, healing, deliverance, and restoration in an instant. God is all-powerful and faithful in fulfilling His promises. As it is written in Hebrews 10:23, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)." ©Rita Larson 11/8/2023
